Portsmouth Hampshire
When in Portsmouth a visit to the Spinnaker Tower is mandatory [ wouldn't surprise me if it was written into the local by-laws :-) ] in any case it's an experience not to be missed.
Spinnaker Tower is the tallest publicly accessible structure in the UK, built right on the shore of Portsmouth Harbour.
The adjacent Gunwharf Quays shopping centre is home to some 90 shops plus numerous bars and restaurants many on the waterfront and has a huge, well organised car park. Even for sufferers of acrophobia, [ morbid fear of heights often referred to incorrectly as vertigo ] a visit to "View Deck 1" will be far more rewarding than frightening.

The tower is massive and doesn't move perceptibly [ which virtually all towers, skyscrapers and tall bridges do ].
Alighting from the lift the deck doesn't look imposing, in fact it looked [ to me ] as though it's been designed not to freak people out.
Out on the deck, the sensation of height is nothing like being on a lookout, roof, or cliff looking over the edge. The glass floor is readily avoidable and posed as a "challenge" plus there is a very substantial railing around the deck.
