Bletchley Park Buckinghamshire

Home of the WWII code breakers

We visited Bletchley Park (officially known as the Government Code and Cipher School) and "home" to the WWII code breakers on Saturday 3rd November 2007 after having once again gotten lost (this time trying to find Silverstone) :-)
We were directed to a public car park quite a distance from Bletchley mansion and the code breakers' huts so we headed off to find a space closer.
Luckily (as it turned out) we missed the turn-off to the car park near the mansion (yep lost again lol) and parked near some buildings behind and well away from the main areas.
Undaunted, we wandered into one of these buildings to have a look around half expecting to get asked to leave. In fact we were greeted by an infectiously enthusiastic and remarkably knowledgeable fellow who treated us to an impromptu guided tour of the real "nuts and bolts" work being done by the volunteers who seem to toil tirelessly to re-create / restore the technology of the time when the code breakers were there. Visit the Bletchley Park website.
